Twins in America - Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
twins Grace and Johnson in front of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse
At 208 feet tall, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on the outer banks shores of North Carolina is the tallest brick lighthouse in the United States. Shining brightly since 1870, the highly visible barber-pole looking lighthouse has been steering sailors away from the dangerous Diamond Shoals for more than 100 years. The beacon of light from the lightouse can be seen as far as 20 miles out to sea.
Anyone who wants to climb the 268 steps in the lighthouse when it's open (April-October) can do so (although we don't blame the twins and their mom in our picture for staying on the ground.) More information is available at this web site.
